There has been a Memorial Fund established called “Sammy’s Fund.” Sammy’s Fund was a generous and heartfelt gift from the members of our organization. It was named in memory of the cherished companion and best friend to Linda Smith, the founder of Rim of the World Comfort Pets, Inc. Sammy was 5 1/2 when his life was suddenly and tragically cut short when he was fatally injured in an accident.
Linda and Sammy worked side by side as visiting therapy pet volunteers. They visited a variety of health care and educational milieus; bringing smiles to countless people. Everyone that knew Sammy loved him. Sammy was a model for training standards in service and therapy.
The painful and premature loss of Sammy has prompted the members of Rim of the World Comfort Pets to establish a fund to honor his memory and continue his legacy.
The Sammy’s Fund award is an annual fund benefit commemorated with a plaque. The recipient may be an individual or group in recognition for ongoing support of Rim of the World Comfort Pets, Inc. and our mission. We appreciate significant donations and major efforts to succeed in fund raising events and promoting our services “above and beyond” to and through the facilities clients and community we serve.
Sammy’s legacy has been carried forward in devoted service by many of our angels in fur who have made the lives of so many people remarkable and changed by their unconditional love and therapy. This includes the patients and clients they have visited along with their handlers who have shared their lives.
