Intermountain Therapy Animals is a non-profit organization, with a current IRS 501(c)(3), bringing animal resources to human needs. We specialize in providing animal-assisted therapy in the areas of physical, occupational, speech and psycho therapies, as well as special education. Our mission is "enhancing quality of life through the human-animal bond". Our motto is "Pets Helping People".
The ITA volunteer program provides carefully screened therapy animals and handlers (see FAQs section) who work with human service and health care professionals to serve those in need.
We work with children and adults who are physically, developmentally, or emotionally disabled, as well as others who can benefit from the unique qualities that interaction with an animal can provide.
Members of Intermountain Therapy Animals are trained to provide pet-facilitated therapy in hospitals, mental institutions, nursing facilities, detention homes, extended care centers, and schools.
Love on a Leash
During the early 1980's Liz Palika, an award winning author and dog obedience instructor, began to introduce the concept of pet provided therapy to the residents of north San Diego County in California. In providing the service, she saw a need for a larger organization to accommodate the growing number of requests she received from assisted living facilities, memory-care facilities, schools and hospitals. Ms. Palika created Love on a Leash in 1984. The organization was incorporated in 1995 as The Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy ("FPPT"), a California public - benefit nonprofit organization. It is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization.
Currently, there are over 900 members in 28 states. In many communities, several volunteers have formed chapters so that they have the opportunity to visit with others and to share common concerns and strategies.

The founding members of The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. have been testing, evaluating and training therapy dogs since 1992. We have been working with our own therapy dogs since 1988.
Our purpose and objective is to help owners of well-behaved dogs, as they share the special love and attention their pets give to them, with other less fortunate individuals.
Reactions to therapy dogs are unmistakable, well documented, and amazing. Not all dogs possess the very special temperament that is necessary to become a therapy dog. However, if a dog has this potential we can help unlock and develop it. We understand how strong the love and bond can be between owner/handler and dog, and the unequaled pleasure that comes from volunteering with one's own dog as a team to aid others.
We want to help people get started and we want to help them succeed. The honorable "road" to working with a dog as a therapy dog should be a positive experience and not paved with intimidation, humiliation or stress. Nor should a handler who desires to work as a volunteer with his or her dog, pay a fortune for the privilege to do so.
We help organize for the testing. We help with training, if necessary. We guide dogs and owners to places to work. Our Bright & Beautiful Therapy dogs and their handlers receive many benefits including primary accident and liability insurance within the United States, therapy dog equipment such as a leash and tag, ID card and holder, group visit information and periodic newsletters. We also furnish support and guidelines for safe and successful visitation.
We've been using our unique formula for a long time and it's one that leads to success!
